Leandro Negre new President of the FIH

Leandro Negre is the new President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The Spanish sports administrator was elected during the FIH Congress in Los Angeles, USA on Saturday for a four years term. Negre received more votes that his opponent Els van Breda Vriesman, Netherlands who has been the FIH President since 2001. A total of 89 National Associations were present at the FIH Congress.

GURGAON: Indian Oil rallied from 0-3 down to edge out Air India 4-3 in a quarterfinal league contest of the 19th Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament at the Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

The results: Indian Oil 4 (Bharat Chikara, Prabhjot Singh, Rajpal Singh, Deepak Thakur) bt Air India 3 (Sandeep Singh-twice, Dhanraj Pillay).

Easy for SAI ‘D’ and Om Sai HC

BANGALORE: Sports Authority of India ‘D’ and Om Sai Hockey Club registered runaway wins in the ‘B’ division hockey championship at the KSHA Stadium here on Saturday.

Om Sai defeated Rainbow Hockey Club 8-1, while SAI ‘D’ crushed SHBBC (Gadag) 9-0.
