I have done exactly that 3 times with no effect (once with Nick Laming in attendance).
The Vumatel team have been in 3 times. The first time they arrived without any equipment to test the connection.. I sent them away to come back with their own testing equipment/computer. The computer they arrived back with had a 100Mb/s Ethernet port so was entirely inadequate to carry out the tests. They then got someone in with a MacBook and a dongle to plug in an Ethernet cable. The dongle didn’t work. The second time they came round again and again with a computer inadequate for the task. They came round yesterday again and again their equipment was not up to the task. They have replaced my CPE twice. Yesterday they blamed the slow speed first on congestion and then on the broken WACS cable and then claimed there was a break in SEACOM as well. I don’t know how this affects a Speedtest connection between my property and your offices (I test to the Afrihost servers), but bullshit doesn’t baffle brain in this house.
I have also discovered that the wireless router you supply as standard for a 1Gb/s connection - the DLink DIR 825 AC1200 will not broadcast faster than marginally over 800Mb/s on the 5Ghz channel meaning that Afrihost do not and cannot fulfill the 1Gb/s line speed they offer, only 80% of that speed. As that is the case do you mind if I only pay 80% of the price seeing that is the maximum you supply. The standard supplied CAT5e cable is only just capable of 1Gb/s which means it is only just up to the job. I have replaced that with a CAT6 cable at my expense and have ordered an AC2600 wireless router again at my expense just to try and cover your inadequate supplied equipment. Why must I do this?
I have also discovered that although support tickets are your 24/7 support option they carry the lowest priority as evidenced by your response times of over 1 week on this ticket. The Whatsapp support waiting times have ranged from 45 minutes to almost 3 hours, which is again wholly inadequate and that although you have an 0800 free support line, you do not advertise this anywhere leaving customers to hang on wasting their money on your inadequate support response times by phone.
I have had enough of Afrihost and their partner Vumtel and would like this resolved within 2 days, which will have long passed by the time you read this.
