Abdul-Aziz Cassiem

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Abdul-Aziz Cassiem, who passed away this morning. He was a humble man, deeply devoted to his family, and a pillar of the Bishops hockey community for many years.

Affectionately known as  "Coach Cassa,” he was unwavering in his dedication to Bishops Hockey at every level. Whether coaching U7s and U8s, U11s or the 12A side, or even the College 1st XI, he coached each team in exactly the same way , with passion, consistency, and respect , treating every player with the same respect the game gave him.

He was extremely proud of his family, especially Dayaan and Mustapha, and their hockey achievements on the world stage, speaking of them with quiet pride and deep admiration.

At any time of the year, a drive past Woodlands would likely reveal Coach Cassa dedicatedly coaching a group of youngsters, in all sorts of weather, always giving his time selflessly.

Beyond hockey, he also enjoyed highly successful stints coaching the Under 10B cricket and Under 9A sides during the summer months.

His legacy will live on through the countless players he mentored and inspired.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cassiem family at this difficult time.
