The Vantage Black Sticks faced Japan in their third match of the Summer of Hockey, a virtual semi-final with both teams fighting for a place in the gold medal match against the United States. With the Vantage Black Sticks holding the advantage on goal difference, a win or a draw would be enough to secure qualification but conditions made nothing easy. Dunedin delivered some of its toughest weather, with sideways rain, strong winds, and cold temperatures creating a gritty contest.

Bhubaneshwar,: Vedanta Kalinga Lancers booked their spot in the final of the Men’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL), securing a 2-1 win against Ranchi Royals at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium on Friday. Alexander Hendrickx bagged a brace to give his side a 2-0 lead before Mandeep Singh pulled one back for the Royals.



Kalinga Lacers through to final; Toofans to face Royals in second qualifier

Hendrickx twin strikes on either side of half-time got Lancers a 2-1 win over Royals. In the Eliminator, Hyderabad Toofans eased past HIL GC 2-0 to stay alive in the competition.

This weekend`s indoor division 1 fixtures fall into two parts. The first four games of the day are the last remaining pool matches to decide final positions in the table – although much has already been decided. The afternoon session starts with the two semi-finals, then a game between the teams that finished third in their pool, followed by the fourth placed sides fighting to avoid relegation, and finally a 3/4 place play-off involving the losing semi-finalists.
