Pakistan produced a spirited performance in their second outing at the FIH Pro League but fell just short as Argentina held on for a 3-2 victory in a brisk, high-tempo encounter in Santiago on Friday.

A high-scoring opening day at the Nkosi Cup delivered everything the home crowd could have hoped for, with the defending champions laying down early markers and several tightly contested group matches setting the tone for a thrilling tournament ahead.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa – It was a full 40-minute battle between the No. 15 U.S. Men’s National Indoor Team and higher ranked No. 8 Namibia in the first game of the men’s 2025 Nkosi Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. The contest was intense, with the final minutes seeing the scoreline shift with six goals scored, but it was Namibia who came out on top, 6-5. 



Indian Men’s Hockey Team Clinches Successful South Africa Tour with Wins in Test Match and Friendly

India remained unbeaten on their tour 



Stellenbosch: India remained unbeaten on their South Africa tour, which comprised two Test matches and one friendly. India defeated South Africa 5–2 in the opening Test to take a 1–0 lead, while the second Test ended in a 2–2 draw. The team capped off the tour with a strong 4–1 victory in the friendly match.

Scotland lift the Challenger Trophy on the eve of the Final at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup in Santiago



Scotland were the standout team of the day as they claimed the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup Challenger Trophy, overcoming hosts Chile in the shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in regular time. The British side thus became the first-ever winners of the trophy, introduced on the initiative of FIH President Tayyab Ikram as a sign of encouragement and recognition for the teams competing in the classification matches from 17th to 24th place at the tournament.



U-21 USWNT Edged by Germany, Still Claim Highest Junior World Cup Finish



SANTIAGO, Chile – Despite falling to No. 3 Germany, 3-1, in their final match, the No. 6 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team closed out the 2025 FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup with their highest-ever finish of 6th place.

Dublin: The Ireland Women’s Hockey Team gave their sold out crowd in the Sport Ireland Campus at day to cherish as they secured their first points of their FIH Hockey Pro League debut season against England. Despite Ireland being on top, nothing could separate the sides at full time, with Sarah Torrans quarter 2 goal cancelled out by Elena Rayer. But Ireland triumphed in the shootout, with Hannah McLoughlin scoring and Elizabeth Murphy making the definitive save in Sudden Death.

Spain close out their campaign with authority on a day that determined the 9–16 positions at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup



South Africa, Ireland, Japan and Spain closed out their participation with authority on Day 11 of the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup City of Santiago 2025, a day dedicated to determining the positions from ninth to sixteenth place. South Africa’s win over Korea set the emotional tone, with a team determined to finish on a high, while Ireland capitalised on their collective solidity to defeat Wales and secure 13th place. In the South American–Asian clash, Japan found the necessary precision to overcome a Uruguay side that once again competed on equal terms.

South Africa closed their Junior World Cup campaign in superb style with a confident five nil victory over Korea to secure fifteenth place and end the tournament on a high.

Santiago, Chile: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team went down 1-2 against Spain in its 9th/10th place playoff match in the FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2025 at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional, Santiago. Kanika Siwach (41') was the goalscorer for India while Natalia Vilanova (16') and Esther Canales (36') netted a goal each for Spain.

In Chennai, he took up various spots – atop a building terrace just behind the corner flag and on the second tier of the centenary stands. In Madurai, at a newly set-up international venue, he found a spot right behind the goal on a broadcast tower and shifted later to the side view once rain relented. Over the course of India’s six matches at the FIH Junior World Cup, PR Sreejesh – trading gloves and goalkeeping pads for headsets and writing pads as head coach – found various vantage points beyond the dugout. As he put it after guiding his wards to a bronze medal on Wednesday: “I need my experience, I am collecting it.”

A South African men’s hockey team hamstrung by the absence of some of their stars lost the final match of the three-match series against India 4-1 in Hartleyvale, Cape Town, but coach Devon van der Merwe feels they have plenty to build on as they ramp up preparations for next year’s World Cup.

The Indian women’s hockey team will have home advantage when it takes one final shot at qualifying for the 2026 World Cup next year, even as the side continues to be devoid of a chief coach.
