Family adds new dimension to Rocio's game



As part of our celebration of International Women's Day, FIH caught up with Rocío Sanchez Moccia, long-standing member of the Argentina women's national team. Rocio returned to the Argentina national side after giving birth to her baby to help steer Argentina to a silver medal at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. She is yet another athlete demonstrating that it is possible to combine motherhood with the challenges of being an elite athlete





Rare Sight of Germany’s Grambusch Brothers Combining to Score Penalty Corner Goal!



It’s seldom in field hockey that one is witness to brothers combining to score a goal – it’s even a rarity to see brothers combine to score during a penalty corner routine. The 2022 Men’s FIH Pro League match between Germany and South Africa held at Potchefstroom, saw Germany men’s hockey team captain Mats Grambusch and his younger brother Tom Grambusch turned one-goal scoring act into a family affair. The brother duo combined to score Germany’s second goal against South Africa early in the second half – a match where the Honamas slammed five times in the second half to lap up an impressive 6-1 win.

Manpreet Singh was not too dejected after India’s loss to Spain last Sunday. “We played a good game… missed a couple of good opportunities,” the captain said after the 3-5 loss. With India hosting Germany on March 12-13, Manpreet said they had enough time to work on “our things” and “come back stronger”. Manpreet did not specify what ‘things’ they needed to work on, but it is easy to point out some of the obvious issues.





Sardar banking on playing experience for results in Birmingham CWG as India 'A' coach

The former national hockey captain believes his 12-year international experience will be enough to ensure that he gets the best out of the India 'A' team, which will compete in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games this year.

Sardar Singh doesn't have any coaching experience and neither has he trained for the job, but the former national hockey captain believes his 12-year international experience will be enough to ensure that he gets the best out of the India 'A' team, which will compete in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games this year.





Young hockey striker Sangita eyeing bigger laurels after making India debut

While Sangita has been an integral part of the junior national side, she got her first opportunity with the senior team against Spain in the FIH Pro League double-header here recently.

Negri beat UniTen to virtually seal WMHL title

Remembering Doreen Fraser

Beverely Doreen Fraser (Nee Armour)



Doreen Fraser (nee Armour) passed away peacefully February 2022 at the age of 91. Doreen was a second-generation Vancouverite and attended school in West Point Grey where she met her future husband, Richard (predeceased). She is survived by her daughter Margot, son Bruce & daughter-in-law Cecilia as well as nephews & a niece.





George Black, father of Scottish Masters hockey, passes away at 95

Scottish Hockey has paid tribute to its oldest member who passed away late last month, aged 95. George Black represented Scotland 48 times, was capped in three games by Great Britain three times. He was a fervent player in the Masters game, so much so that he was hailed as the ‘faither’ (father) of Scottish veterans’.
