Speedy Tigers thump Thailand in opener

HANGZHOU: A running change of players by hockey coach A. Arul Selvaraj did not disrupt his team's rhythm as Malaysia hammered Thailand 9-0 in their Group B opener at the Asian Games on Sunday.

Varun Kumar, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Mandeep Singh, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Shamsher Singh, and Sanjay scored goals for India in the match 
Hangzhou: Indian Men's Hockey Team on Sunday started their campaign at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 with a massive 16-0 win over Uzbekistan in Pool A match. Varun Kumar (12', 36', 50', 52') scored four goals, while Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (7', 24', 53'), and Mandeep Singh (18', 27', 28') scored hat-tricks each. Sukhjeet Singh (37', 42') scored a brace, while Abhishek (17'), Amit Rohidas (38'), Shamsher Singh (43'), and Sanjay (57') scored a goal each for India.

Lalit Upadhyay, Varun Kumar and Mandeep Singh scored hat-tricks in the Indian men’s hockey team’s win in Pool A. India will play Singapore next on Tuesday.

EYHL MEN’S DIVISION 1 ROUND UP
The action began at Queen’s University Sportsgrounds where Annadale took on Instonians in a Belfast derby and took the lead in the first minute through Spencer Pinion, who converted a penalty corner in the first minute. They went 2-0 up through a penalty corner from Owen McElhinney on 24 minutes. Instonians got one back before half time through a goal from Gavin Lecky from open play.
