Argentina edge USA women in nine-goal thriller while Belgium men bounce back



They may still be chasing their first win of the FIH Hockey Pro League season, but that didn’t stop the United States women from giving Argentina a run for their money in a captivating encounter on the second day of action in Antwerp, Belgium on Thursday.

ANTWERP, Belgium – A rain saturated pitch saw the No. 13 U.S. Women’s National Team face No. 2 Argentina in their second match of the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Pro League mini-tournament in Antwerp, Belgium. A high scoring contest, it was a thriller until the end when the game winner came with 2 minutes remaining as USA dropped the match 4-5.

Antwerp: The Indian Men’s Hockey Team on Friday went down 1-4 against Belgium in their second match of the European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24. For India, Abhishek (55’) scored the lone goal, while for Belgium, Felix Denayer (22’), Alexander Hendrickx (34’, 60’) and Cedric Charlier (49’) were on target.

Antwerp: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team on Thursday went down 0-2 against Belgium in their closely-fought second match of the European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24. Alexia 'T Serstevens (34’) and Louise Dewaet (36’) netted a goal each for Belgium.

Often playing the role of a player-coach on the field, PR Sreejesh flailed his arms and, from underneath his helmet, yelled at his teammates to let them know how exactly he was feeling about their performance. The microphones couldn’t exactly capture his tirade. But the goalkeeper’s body language suggested he must not have had pleasant things to say.

Belgium: Fresh from their opening day 2-1 win over Belgium it was a very confident Ireland that took on Argentina in Antwerp in the second FIH Pro League game in Antwerp. Mark Tumilty’s men, showing  six  changes from the starting team in yesterday’s game, had the opportunity to build on that historic first FIH Pro League win and gain some more points.

South Africa awarded opening victories as Botswana fail to honour fixture at Indoor Africa Cup



Both the SPAR South Africa indoor women’s team and the SA Indoor Hockey men’s team, powered by Tops at SPAR, were awarded 5-0 forfeit victories on the opening day of the Indoor Africa Cup in Swakopmund. This decision came after Botswana was unable to honour the fixture due to travel difficulties.
