FIH Junior Hockey World Cup qualifications complete following Junior Africa Cup 2024



From 18-25 April, the best young teams in Africa competed in the Junior Africa Cup [JAC] 2024 (M/W) with South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe women, along with South Africa, Namibia and Egypt men finishing in the medal positions and securing the the final three spots at the upcoming edition of the men’s and women’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cups 2025.

South Africa completed a golden campaign at the Junior Africa Cup in Windhoek, as both the U21 Men and Women defeated hosts Namibia to be crowned the Junior African Champions.

South Africa won the men and women’s Junior Africa Hockey Cup titles in Windhoek on Friday evening after beating Namibia 5-0 in both finals.

The South African U21 Women’s team have completed a golden campaign at the Junior Africa Cup in Windhoek, ending the tournament unbeaten with a 5-nil win in the final against hosts Namibia to be crowned the Junior African Champions, at the Davin Trustco Hockey Stadium in Namibia on Friday, 25 April, 2025.

Kenya’s dream of qualifying for the 2025 FIH Junior World Cup came to a heartbreaking end on the final day of the Junior Africa Cup after a dramatic 4-2 post-match shootout loss to Egypt in the third-place playoff at the Davin Trustco Hockey Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia.

The Salima Tete-led Indian team will clash with Australia ‘A’ in Perth on April 26 and 27, and take on the senior team on May 1, 3 and 4. File

The challenging Australia tour, beginning Saturday, will help the Indian women’s hockey team assess where it stands, chief coach Harendra Singh said on Friday, adding that he will also experiment with combinations, keeping in mind important future assignments.



Field Hockey Canada Youth Tours to Europe: A Developmental Success

International tours foster development, experience and camaraderie



From April 13-21, Field Hockey Canada sent two youth teams on international tours as part of their talent development pathway. The U16 women’s team traveled to Hradec Králové, Czechia, while the U18 women’s team headed to Cardiff, Wales. Both tours provided valuable international on- and off-field experiences for the young athletes, focusing on development, exposure, and team culture.
