Spain beat India to win their second match of FIH Hockey Pro League 2022-23

India suffered a defeat in their home ground as the Spanish team dominated the Men in Blue to win 3-2 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar in the third match of the brand new FIH Hockey Pro League season.

Spain pulls off a hard fought 3-2 win over India

It must cause concern in the minds of Indian hockey’s thinktank. Spain, who are in their pool of the forthcoming World Cup, just 75 days to go, dished out a fare that stunned the host for a hard fought 3-2 win. Except most part of the first and last quarter, India gave enough elbow room for the well-oiled Spanish with poor defence and rusty midfield, to outmanouevre them. Mark Caldas’ outfit grabbed the chances with both hands. Add to the Indian worry is falling form of goalie Sreejesh, who seemed struggling much like the other day against the Kiwis.

Spain Dent India with Late Strike

Spain are a much improved side under coach Max Caldas after their eight–place finish at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics – they showed ample proof that they have the ammuntion to not just match but also outstrip the best in the business in the third edition of the FIH Pro League. At the 2022-23 FIH Pro League, Spain maintained their ‘improvement momentum’ first nailing out a 3-2 win over New Zealand, and subsequently rode on a late match-winner to break the Indian hearts at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.
