Danneberg stars in goal as Honamas register close win against Kookaburras



FIH Hockey Pro League action continued from Rourkela as Australia took on Germany in a replay of the World Cup semi-finals that led to heartbreak for Australia late in the final quarter. Germany came away winners in a close encounter with Malte Hellwig scoring the sole goal of the game. Australia had plenty of chances, but Jean-Paul Danneberg was incredible in the goal, pulling off incredible saves all through the game, securing Germany’s clean-sheet and earning all 3 points for them.





Kookaburras quartet make debut in narrow loss to world champions'



The Kookaburras have been edged out 1-0 by world champions Germany in the FIH Pro League in Rourkela tonight as Hayden Beltz, Anand Gupte, Ben Staines and Davis Atkin became the latest players to debut for Australia’s iconic national men’s hockey team.

Australia and Germany fought a largely midfield battle wedged between action at the two ends of the field before the world champion came off a 1-0 winner in the FIH Pro League on Saturday. The lone goal of the match came off the faintest of margins and required a review before being awarded.

The World Champions were beaten by hosts India in their previous match on Friday.

Kenyan U-21 teams leave for Africa Cup in Egypt

National junior hockey teams will leave the country on Saturday evening for the 2023 Junior Africa Cup slated for March 12 to 16 in Ismailia, Egypt.

The women's hockey Junior Africa Cup to be held at Suez Canal Authority Stadium, Ismailia, Egypt from 12 to 16 March 2023. Four junior women's hockey teams from South Africa, Egypt, Kenya and Zimbabwe will be participating in the competition.

Nigeria and Ghana decided to withdraw.

UCD and Loreto miss chance to take the lead in Irish EY Hockey League

It was a two top clash in the EY Hockey League between UCD and visitors Loreto at Belfield this afternoon; an enthralling fixture played in miserable conditions that could go a long way to deciding who lifts the trophy at the end of the season. At the beginning of the day, UCD and Loreto, along with Catholic Institute, sat at the top of the table on 28 points.
