Chile teach Bajans a hockey lesson

The Barbados women’s team were baptised by fire at the Wildey Astroturf yesterday, as they were handed a 20-0 thrashing by Chile in their opening match of the Junior Pan American Championships.





Pan American Junior Championship 2023 - Records

Following records established in the current Pan American Junior Championship 2023 at Saint Michael Barbados.

Women's Under 21 national team of Chile recorded a massive score 20-0 against Barbados was the highest score for Chile in the championship, in the past, Chile scored 16-0 against Dominican Republic at San Juan 2005.

Following is the list of big scores for the women's teams in the Pan American Junior Championship:
21 - 0 Argentina v Dominican Republic, San Juan 2005
21 - 0 United States v Bermuda, Mexico City 2008
20 - 0 Chile v Barbados, Saint Michael 2023

Chile national women's junior team scored 20 - 0 against Barbados Saint Michael 2023. Arrieta Victoria scored five goals for her team. Earlier, Camila Infante scored five goals for her team during the course of the match Chile 16 - 0 Dominican Republic, San Juan 2005.

Robin Thind of Canada men's national team scored four goals in four minutes during the course of match Canada 6 - 0 against Barbados. Robin Thind scored his goals in 50' 51' 52' and 53'.

 I trace out only one similar instance when Harpreet Virdi of Canada scored five goals against Puerto Rico at Havana 2005,  four of his five goals scored in just nine minutes 50' 52' 56' 58' and 66'.

New teams, targeting hockey hubs and simultaneous tournaments for women and men: A decade after it was first launched, and six years after it was last held, the Hockey India League (HIL) is set to make a return.





Odisha sets up 18 training centres to boost hockey at grassroots

The HTCs have been set up by the Sports and Youth Services Department (DSYS) in partnership with Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (HPC) with the aim to nurture a large spectrum of hockey talent from the state and provide an early exposure to synthetic turfs.

Odisha known for its passion for hockey, has set up 18 Hockey Training Centres (HTCs) for development of hockey at grassroots while four more such centres will be opened soon, officials said on Tuesday.

Over the Easter weekend, the England U18 Boys and Girls travelled to Utrecht for a 3 Nations event with games against the Netherlands and France. Meanwhile, the England U16 Boys and Girls were at Nottingham Hockey Centre, where England hosted a 4 Nations event, with teams from Scotland, Spain and the Netherlands travelling to play some excellent competitive matches.
