A largely inexperienced Hockeyroos team featuring five debutantes has scored a stirring 4-2 win over India on a memorable night in Adelaide.

Adelaide: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team played their heart out but went down 2-4 against Australia in their opening match of the tour on Thursday in Adelaide. For India Sangita Kumari (29’) and Sharmila Devi (40’) scored a goal each, while Australia found the back of the net through Aisling Utri (21’), Maddy Fitzpatrick (27’), Alice Arnott (32’), and Courtney Schonell (35’).

Sangita Kumari and Sharmila Devi scored the goals for India. The second India vs Australia women’s hockey Test match will be played on Saturday.

The Indian women’s hockey team lost 4-2 to Australia in the first of the three-match Test series against the senior team at the MATE Stadium in Adelaide on Thursday.

The Indian women’s hockey team started its tour of Australia on a disappointing note, losing 2-4 against a largely inexperienced Hockeyroos team in the first Test of the three-match series here today. The home team, which featured five debutants and 13 players with 20 or fewer international caps, stunned the more experienced India, scoring four goals in a 14-minute burst.

Indian women's hockey midfielder MONIKA Malik achieved a landmark to appear in 200 field hockey senior international (outdoor) matches during the course of the first Test Match against Australia at Adelaide, 2023.

From 23 May to 1 June 2023, the best young Asian men’s hockey teams will compete in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Salalah 2023, with three spots up for grabs in the upcoming FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023, to be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bengaluru: With an eye on the title, an upbeat Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team left for the highly anticipated Men's Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman today from the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. India has been grouped in pool A along with nemesis Pakistan, Japan, Thailand and Chinese Taipei, while Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan will form pool B of the tournament which is scheduled to take place from 23rd May to 1st June 2023.
