Indian Women's Hockey Team defeat hosts Spain 3-0 to win the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey federation - International Tournament

Barcelona: The Indian Women's Hockey Team won the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation - International Tournament here on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over hosts Spain. Vandana Katariya (22'), Monika (48'), and Udita (58') scored as the team remained undefeated in the tournament. India had drawn 1-1 with England and 2-2 with Spain in their previous matches.

Barcelona: The Indian Men’s Hockey Team beat the reigning FIH Hockey Pro League Champions The Netherlands 2-1 in the third-fourth placing match here at the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation - International Tournament on Sunday. India Captain Harmanpreet Singh (15') and Dilpreet Singh (50') scored in India's hard-fought victory while Thierry Brinkman (25') scored the lone goal for the Dutch side. Interestingly, all goals came from PCs today - re-emphasizing on a good penalty corner attack.

Exciting moments unfolded in the opening minutes of the match, with a short corner awarded to Wales in the 8th minute. However, despite a lively flick by Hoskins, the subsequent second attempt narrowly missed the target, leaving the scores level at the end of the first quarter.

Defending Champions Korea and Japan aim to rewrite history in Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023

Korea will lock horns with Japan in the tournament opener on 3rd August at Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Egmore



Chennai: The defending Champions Korea Men’s Hockey Team and last editions runners up, Japan Men’s Hockey Team arrived in Chennai on Sunday night for the Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023. Both teams were afforded a warm welcome at the Chennai International Airport. While Korea are eyeing to retain the title, Japan’s best finish has been a Silver Medal in the 2021 edition of the tournament.

Argentina’s Martin Ferreiro struck a ‘goal’ at the shoot-out in the FIH World Cup hockey quarterfinal match against South Korea at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar in June this year. But it was disallowed as the time had elapsed (past the eight-second deadline). Which meant that Korea had won the match 3-2 in tiebreaker after the teams had been deadlocked 5-5 in regulation time.

In the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey 5s Pan American Cups, Team USA matched up against Uruguay in the championship game. Up to that point, the United States had only allowed a single goal, surrendered against Trinidad and Tobago in the semi-finals — a game in which Team USA won, 2-1.
