Kenya’s women come from behind to triumph at Africa Cup of Nations hockey and reach last four

Kenya’s women came from behind against Nigeria to triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations hockey in Accra, Ghana, reaching the semi-finals in the process, despite a troubled build-up and start to the tournament.





South Africa prepare for Semi-Final with ruthless win

The South African women’s hockey team had already qualified for the semi-finals having scored 9 unanswered goals in the tournament, but they were looking to step up their cutting edge in front of goal in todays final Pool A match against Uganda. They were also looking to celebrate Tarryn Lombard’s 50th game in style.

The Canadian men followed yesterday’s thrilling Pan American Cup opener with a definitive victory of their own. A hat trick from Gordon Johnston and a flurry of goals later, the Red Caribou came out on top 11-1 in their first matchup against Mexico earlier this afternoon.

SANTIAGO, Chile – At the Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile, the No. 23 U.S. Men’s National Team opened the 2022 Pan American Cup with a hard-fought win over No. 36 Trinidad and Tobago in Pool B. It was a full 60-minute battle, where USA had to come from behind twice to secure the 4-3 victory.

T&T senior hockeywomen will be eager to rebound from their 16-0 drubbing against USA on Wednesday when they come up against Peru in their second Group B match, a must-win fixture in the Pan American Cup at the Prince of Wales Country Club, La Reina, Santiago, Chile from 1 pm on Friday (January 21).

Women's Asia Cup: Where anything can happen



The Women’s Asia Cup 2022 will be taking place from 21-28 January at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, in Muscat in Oman. The venue was switched from Bangkok, Thailand due to ongoing Covid-19 complications. This event was first played in 1985 and only four teams’ names have appeared on the trophy since – Korea, India, Japan and China. After two tumultuous years of Covid-related disruption, all eight participating teams will be desperate to start the year in winning style and one expert in the game says it is a situation where 'anything can happen.'
