Pakistan outplays Uzbekistan in Asian Games hockey, earns 3rd straight victory

Pakistan recorded the highest score in the Asian Games

Pakistan scored the highest score in the men's hockey in the Asian Games. Pakistan 18-2 Uzbekistan at Gongshu Canal Sports Park field hockey field, Hangzhou in the 19th Asian Games 2022. Pakistan was 11-1 at the half time. For the Pakistani team Arbaz Ahmad scored 5 goals, Abdul Rana (3) and Afraz (3) also scored hat tricks in the match.

The previous highest scores for Pakistan in the Asian Games 17-0 against Bangladesh, Bangkok, 1978. In this match Shahnaz Sheikh (who is now the coach of the team), scored 7 goals.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian men's hockey team thrashed Indonesia 9-2 to record their third Asian Games Group B win in a row on Thursday, but coach A. Arul Selvaraj was not happy.

Indian Men's Hockey Team picks solid 4-2 win over defending Champions Japan in Hangzhou

Hangzhou: The Indian Men's Hockey Team on Thursday continued their winning run at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, defeating the 2018 Asian Games Gold medalist Japan 4-2 in their third Pool A match. Abhishek (13', 48'), Mandeep Singh (24'), and Amit Rohidas (34') scored the goals for India to help their side get an important victory. Genki Mitani (57'), and Ryosei Kato (60') scored the goals for Japan.

Never has India lost to Japan in the annals of the Asian Games. What made today’s encounter between the two regulars to the genre of competition since 1958 is that its for the first time Japan entered the field as defending champions. The question therefore was will they be able to turn the tables on India?

Two goals in the last four minutes saw Japan reduce the deficit but India’s superiority till then ensured a 4-2 win against the reigning Asian Games champion in the first real test for the Indians.

While India began the contest with a 16-0 win over Uzbekistan in the Pool A match, the side led by Captain Harmanpreet Singh followed it up with a 16-1 win over Singapore. On Thursday, India faced their toughest challenge of the campaign against the 2018 Asian Games Gold medalist Japan and came out of the contest with a 4-2 win to keep their winning streak intact.

Paris 2024: Oman to host FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier



Following FIH’s decision to withdraw the hosting of one of the Men’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers from Pakistan due to the recent developments in the governance situation of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, this event will now be hosted by another Asian nation, namely Oman, which had already expressed an interest to bid at an early stage, during the bidding phase.

With 16 games on the schedule this season, No. 14 Harvard field hockey only has eight battles left. Most recently, it drew the losing straw in a double-overtime quarrel with No. 4 Duke University — its only loss since a one-goal defeat to No. 7 University of Virginia back in early September. Over the first month of the campaign, the Crimson has been building up strength for its imminent Ivy League season.
