England Men Secure Victory Over Austria



The England men’s team managed to secure their first points of the EuroHockey Championships but were pushed hard by the Austrian team to get to their victory of 3-0.

Monchengladbach — England men showed their superior fitness and physicality to beat Austria 3-0 in their second EuroHockey game. But Austria proved no pushovers. Possessing some of the best indoor exponents in the game, they proved an obdurate unit to break down for half of this pool game.

Belgium women's team was defeated by Netherlands by 2 -0 in the Women's EuroHockey Championship 2023 at Warsteiner Hockey Park Monchengladbach Germany on 20 August, 2023.


During the course of the match Alix Gerniers of Belgium achieved a personal landmark she completed her 250 international hockey matches.

Alix Gerniers made her debut in senior international hockey in 2012.

Southerns edge Northerns as usual suspects all get wins on day 1



In a very hotly anticipated clash, the Gauteng derby saw Northerns and Southerns take first aim at one another. It was a bruising encounter that saw the two teams fight for the upper hand for 3 quarters before it finally arrived for the Johannesburg gentlemen. Red hot Dalpiarro Langford opened the scoring while Tokyo Olympian Nic Spooner doubled things just two minutes later. It would be the last goalscoring action of the game and the points were secured for Southerns





Opening day onslaught for Western Province while defending champions edge North West in a classic



The Northern Blues and North West played out a tense encounter to kick immediately set the tournament alight. The defending champions were pushed all the way in an epic battle that ultimately ended with the Pretoria side emerging victorious. They were forced to come from behind though trailing to a goal from former SA U21 star Jacolene Mclaren. South African indoor star Laiken Brisset restored parity before Kiana Cormack fired in a cracking penalty corner to secure an opening victory for the champions.

Few have been in agreement.
