England Men's Hockey Team put in a solid show to advance to the semi-finals of the EuroHockey Championships 2023 with a tense 4-3 win in their last pool stage match against Spain on Wednesday.

England's men will face hosts Germany in the EuroHockey semi-finals after twice coming back from a goal behind to win 4-3 against Spain.

In a spirited display of determination, the Welsh men’s team faced off against the world's number one team, the Netherlands, in a highly anticipated match. Despite the challenging opposition, Wales showcased their resilience and competitive spirit throughout the game. The final scoreline of 8-1 in favour of the Netherlands may not fully reflect the tenacity and effort that Wales put forth on the field. The lone goal for Wales came during the second quarter, courtesy of Stephen Kelly's skilled execution.

Mönchengladbach — A Welsh supporter was asked to show why the nation has such a strong voice and he duly obliged during half-time here. But it was the Netherlands calling the tune on the pitch as they thumped Wales 8-1 to secure passage into the men’s EuroHockey semi-finals.

Plan executed, job well done. Orange captain Thierry Brinkman was of course pleased with the victory in the last group match and reaching the semi-finals of the European Championship in Mönchengladbach on Wednesday evening after the 8-1 away against Wales . But the defeat against Germany two days earlier still reverberated in the back of his mind.

Hollie Pearne-Webb, a great women's hockey defender who played for England and Great Britain completed her 250 international hockey matches during the course of the match played between England and Scotland in the Women's EuroHockey Championship 2023 at  Hockey Park Monchengladbach,  Germany.

Hollie Pearne-Webb, is one of the best defence in the world hockey, born on 19 September, 1990, Aged 32, made her debut in international hockey in 2013.

DANAS in the semifinals! Without conceding a goal to win the group



The German hockey ladies are the first in group B and have not conceded a goal in the semi-finals of the European Championship at home. National coach Valentin Altenburg’s team clearly won the third group game against Ireland 5-0. The goals were scored by Sonja Zimmermann, Pauline Heinz, Jette Fleschütz and twice by Nike Lorenz. In the semifinals on Thursday at 8 p.m. (24 August), the DHB selection will meet Belgium.

 India to open campaign against Malaysia in Women’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier

India has been placed in the Elite Pool along with Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand. While the second, Challengers Pool, consists of Hong Kong China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iran, and Oman.

India will begin its campaign at the Women’s Asian Hockey 5s World Cup Qualifier against Malaysia in Salalah, Oman on Friday.





Draw for inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup scheduled on 3 September



The draw determining the Pools of the very first FIH Hockey5s World Cup that will be played in Oman (24-31 January 2024) will take place in Salalah, Oman, on 3 September at 7pm, one day after the conclusion of the last qualifiers for this World Cup that will be staged in the same venue. FIH President Tayyab Ikram will attend the draw ceremony.

Düsseldorf: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team on Wednesday recorded a 6-2 win against England to finish third at the 4 Nations Tournament - Dusseldorf 2023. For India, Neelam (25’), Annu (26, 43’), Sunelita Toppo (35’), Hina Bano (38’) and Mumtaz Khan (40’) were on target. England’s goals came from Claudia Swain (16’) and Charlotte Bingham (54’).
