Paris 2024: India to host FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier



Lausanne, Switzerland: The Women’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier initially scheduled to be held in Changzhou, China, will be moved to India. After the Chinese women’s national team qualified directly to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 through winning the Asian Games last week, discussions were held between the Hockey National Associations of China and India for a potential change of hosts, motivated by the fact that maintaining this event in China whilst their national team has already qualified for the next Olympics would have impacted the fans and media excitement in the country.

The Women's FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier, initially slated to take place in Changzhou, China, has been relocated to India. Nittany Lions battle Wildcats tough before dropping 2-0 contest



UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; October 20, 2023 – The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (7-7, 2-4 B1G), ranked No. 16 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Coaches Poll, dropped a tough 2-0 home game to No. 1 Northwestern (14-1, 6-0 B1G). The Wildcats scored once in the first and last periods to grab the Big Ten conference victory.





No. 2 UNC field hockey suffers first ACC loss to No. 7 UVA

The No. 2 North Carolina field hockey team (11-3, 4-1 ACC) fell 3-2 to the No. 7 Virginia Cavaliers (10-5, 3-3 ACC) on Friday in Charlottesville.  





Despite Early Lead, FH Falls At Virginia, 3-2



CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – North Carolina dropped a game in regulation for the first time this season on Friday, falling 3-2 at Virginia in Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey action. The Tar Heels led 2-0 at halftime at Turf Field, but the Cavaliers stormed back with three third-quarter goals and then hung on for the win in their Senior Day.

Whittle and Littlefield’s Combined Seven Goals Lead Ohio to Senior Day Win



ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio field hockey (6-7) dominated Bellarmine (7-8) by a score of 8-2 at Pruitt Field on Senior Day Friday afternoon to clinch a spot in the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the first time since 2021. The Bobcats scored a season-high eight goals in their route of the Knights.





Minutewomen Claim 5-0 Shutout Victory Over Richmond



AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts (10-6, 4-2) scored a season-high five goals to secure a dominant 5-0 victory over Richmond (7-8, 2-4) on a rainy Friday afternoon at Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex. The five goals mark the most for Massachusetts since they recorded six against Saint Louis on Sept. 16, 2022.





Field Hockey falls at No. 19 UMass



Amherst, Mass. – The University of Richmond was unable to get back in the win column Friday afternoon, falling 5-0 to No. 19 Massachusetts at Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex in Atlantic 10 Conference action.





Bryant falls to No. 18 UMass Lowell in OT, 2-1



SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Natalie Brown scored her third goal of the season and the Bryant University field hockey team took No. 18 UMass Lowell to overtime before the River Hawks were able to score the game-winning goal on Friday at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.   





Whiteout Equals Shutout for Field Hockey in 5-0 Win over Lehigh



LEWISBURG, Pa.- Friday night, the Bucknell Bison field hockey team (6-9, 2-3 PL) kept its Patriot League Tournament chances alive with a decisive 5-0 win over rival Lehigh Mountain Hawks (9-6, 2-3 PL). Playing in front of a partisan and loud crowd decked out in white the Bison scored early and often to clinch the victory. Lily Neilson scored her first hat trick of 2023 to lead the Bucknell attack. Rachel Apa and Kira Leclercq each added a tally.

Day 3 Results: 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Women and Men South Zone Championship 2023



Chennai: The third day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Women and Men South Zone Championship 2023 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, saw Le Puducherry Hockey, Hockey Andhra Pradesh secure wins and Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 with Hockey Karnataka in the Men’s category, while in the Women’s category, Telangana Hockey played out a 2-2 draw with Le Puducherry Hockey, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 with Kerala Hockey and Hockey Andhra Pradesh defeated Hockey Karnataka 4-3.



Scottish Hockey announces aspiring and emerging training squads and player pathway

Scottish Hockey has named the national training squads for this year’s girls’ and boys’ aspiring and emerging squads, and as we announce our national squads for season 2023-2024, this signifies the launch of our new player pathway. In March this year Scottish Hockey announced key structural changes within the player pathway, including no longer delivering U21 squads as standalone programmes. Our new national player pathway will consist of:

Meeting yesterday and today in Cairo, Egypt, under the chairmanship of FIH President Tayyab Ikram, the Executive Board (EB) of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) received detailed updates about the upcoming FIH events including the FIH Hockey Women’s and Men’s Junior World Cups, the FIH Hockey Pro League Season 5, the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup and the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers.
