Korea, India, and Belgium pick up big wins on Day 1 of the FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2023



Lausanne, Switzerland: The FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 kicked off in style with wins for Korea, India, Argentina, Belgium, and hosts Chile. The Day 1 of the World Cup was a mixed affair with three one-sided matches and three edge-of-the-seat thrillers.

Santiago: The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team made a resounding start to their FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 campaign by securing a commanding 12-0 victory against Canada in their opening match of the tournament held in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday.

Indian women's junior hockey team recorded their highest score 12-0 against Canada in the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup at Santiago, Chile, 2023 overshadowed their previous highest score 10-1 against Russia at Monchengladbach, 2013.


India scored 12-0 against Canada, during the course of the match, three players scored hat tricks Annu 3, Mumtaz Khan 4 and Deepika Soreng 3 goals. This is only the third instance when three players scored hat tricks in a match in the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup history.

South Africa edged out by Chile in Opener



South Africa and Chile met in their opening encounter of the FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2023. It was a tasty battle to wrap up the opening day of action as the hosts took on the previous edition hosts South Africa. South Africa qualified for the tournament by winning the Junior African Cup, while Chile qualified as hosts but finished third at the Pan American games.

The FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup Chile 2023 begins overnight tonight with all 12 teams in action on opening day, as South Africa opens it’s Pool A campaign against hosts Chile at 01h30 (CAT) on Pitch 1 of the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional, in the Ñuñoa Metropolitan Region in Santiago, Chile on Wednesday, 29 November, 2023.

BUKIT JALIL: Australia coach Jay Stacy was a little relieved after their Junior World Cup (JWC) match against Malaysia on Dec 8 was moved from the "prime crowd time" of 8.30pm to 2pm at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
