Dutch women dominate, GB men earn bonus point for second-straight night



From start to finish the Netherlands women dominated Great Britain and that was just as evident in the 6-0 score line. Just days before, the same teams were only split by one goal, Netherlands winning 2-1. Today, Marijn Veen notched two goals, while Felice Albers, Pien Sanders, Marente Barensten and Lidewij Welten also got on the board.

Spain and India set up a date with destiny in the finals of the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup Spain 2022



Spain and India started the FIH Nations Cup as the two prohibitive favourites for the title and throughout the tournament have gone from strength to strength, coming up against opponents with different playing styles and strategies. No opponent however, has been able to vanquish the two top ranked teams in the tournament, who edged past their opponents in the semifinals today, to set up a mouthwatering clash in the finals tomorrow with the title and the opportunity to qualify for the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24 up for grabs!





Italy show clinical touch to defeat South Africa

South Africa and Italy were both disappointed to have missed out on the top 4, but needed to dust themselves off to try and finish the tournament on a high and finish as high as possible at the inaugural FIH Hockey Nations Cup.





Shootout heartbreak for Ireland in Nations Cup semi-final



Sean Dancer’s Ireland lost by the finest of margins in a classic against India in their semi-final of the Women’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup. After 60 minutes of nail-biting drama, it took a penalty shootout to separate the two sides and decide who would go into the gold medal match against Spain.





India Get Out of Jail to Sneak into Final



It was on expected lines that Ireland eves would be a tough nut to crack for the Indian women in the semifinals of the FIH Nations Cup at Estadio Betero in Valencia. And it needed the goalkeeping brilliance of Indian skipper Savita to ‘get out jail’ and sneak into the final where they lock horns with hosts Spain. 13th ranked Ireland brought their physicality to the fore even as 8th ranked Indian looked to unsettle them with their pace and skill play but it invariably appeared that Indian eves despite putting their best foot forward was finding it hard to dominate Ireland, who adhered to a solid structure.





India beat Ireland in shootout to set up final against Spain

After the semi-final was level at 1-1 post regulation time, India won the shootout 2-1. The Indian women’s hockey team will play Spain in the final on Saturday.

The Indian hockey team won a tense semi-final shootout against Ireland in Valencia, Spain on Friday to make the Women's FIH Nations Cup 2022 final.

Indoor Hockey Test Series begins with a draw

South Africa and Ireland renewed a rivalry that has developed tremendously over the past couple of years at St. Cyprians College in the Western Cape today. Ireland made their return to International Indoor Hockey against South Africa in December 2019 and the teams played out an enthralling five match series earlier this year.

South Africa and Ireland could not be separated in the opening test match last night at St. Cyprians College. They were both looking to get the upper hand in Match 2 in Wynberg. Chardinay Penniston was awarded her debut for the South Africans, the 53rd player to play under coach Lennie Botha.

South Africa took on the hosts Egypt today with a place in the FIH Hockey5s World Cup in Oman 2024 up for Grabs. The opportunity to take part in the inaugural World Cup was motivation enough for Coach Pholo and her charges as they looked ahead to the game.





India ready to take on the world, says Anurag Thakur

KUALA LUMPUR KL City Hall are poised to complete the group stage with a 100 per cent record after humbling Perlis Mighty Lions 11-2 in a men's Malaysian Indoor Hockey League (MIHL) match at the Sultan Idris Education University in Tanjong Malim yesterday.





Top sides play off for pole position in indoor division one

There is a mirror image at the top of the Scottish indoor division 1 tables – Inverleith and Western in the men`s while it is Watsonians and Clydesdale Western in the women`s who share top spot with maximum points and they play each other in the third game of the day this Saturday and Sunday.
